During Jameis Winston, Florida State University Seminoles quarterback, ESPN post championship game interview, Dee Dee Bonner, the mother of AJ McCarron tweeted:
"Am I Listening To English?"
Bonner’s tweet was followed by another one posted by Peyton Brown and favored by Katherine Webb, McCarron’s girlfriend.
“Jameis Winston needs to learn sign language because listening to him attempt to speak English just insulting,” Brown tweeted.
In one of the best ever college championship games, Winston rallied No. 1 Florida State Seminoles from 18 points down to beat the No. 2 Auburn Tigers 34-31 in the 2014 BCS National Championship. Winston, who is also the Heisman Trophy winner, is also the first freshman quarterback to lead a team to national championship. He threw for 237 yards and two Touchdowns to win.
AJ McCarron, also an outstanding quarterback was one of six Heisman candidates, he led the Alabama Crimson Tide to an 11-1 season as the senior quarterback. He passed for 2,676 yards and 26 touchdowns, completing 207 of 306 passes. His team was defeated by the underdog Oklahoma Sonners 45-31 in the Sugar Bowl on January 2.
Meanwhile, Bonner (@DeeDeeBonner) apologized for her previous tweet by tweeting the following (in English):
“Any1 that knows our family knows we r far from racist. My tweet was not in anyway meant that way. I sincerely apologize if it offended any1”
