Petition to Florida Gov. Rick Scott on behalf of Marissa Alexander DC# J46944 – Requesting Executive Clemency.
Realizing that I’m not Marissa Alexander’s family member, friend, pastor, teacher, sponsor, and neighbor nor can I attest to her character, I have decided to solicit the help of social activist by using the power of social media to urgently plea to Gov. Scott for his mercy in granting Alexander an executive clemency.
Alexander is serving a “mandatory twenty year sentence,” for shooting a warning shot into the air after her abusive husband,Rico Gray, threatened to kill her. Nobody was hurt in that case. Alexander who had a gun license tried unsuccessfully to use Florida's controversial "Stand Your Ground" as her defense, but a jury convicted her of aggravated assault after ONLY 12 minutes of deliberation.
What Can You Do To Help?
By using the power of social media and social activism, my goal is to get at least 100,000 “original handwritten petitions”
on the desk of Governor Scott as soon as possible. Please note that it takes only few minutes to pen down few lines to get your point across to the governor.
When writing your petition to Gov. Scott, please be courteous and precise. Do not remind him that your tax dollars pay his salary, or compare this case with that of the Florida neighborhood watch guy who last name starts with a “Z”. Do not mention that you help to elect the governor or threaten him in anyway.
If for whatever reason you cannot participate in the petition, please share this article with your friends in your social network.
Governor Scott’s address:
Honorable Governor Rick Scott
Executive Office of Governor Rick Scott
400 S Monroe Street
Tallahassee, Florida 32399
Additionally, please make sure your letter is short and straight to the point. At the start of you letter, please add:
