Farewell to EveryBlock.com as it goes down with an Error 404
The 404 Not Found error, often called Error 404 or an HTTP 404 error, means that the webpage you were trying to load was not found.
EveryBlock, a hyperlocal news site that pulled in and mapped useful information from a variety of sources including feeds from commercial, government and nonprofit has decided to wrap things up. EveryBlock's also collected information from police reports, Craigslist posts, restaurant and Yelp reviews.
EveryBlock was started in Chicago by Adrian Holovaty in 2008 with a two-year $1.1 million grant from the Knight Foundation. It was acquired by MSNBC.com in 2009, and in 2012 NBC News bought MSNBC.com.
EveryBlock expanded beyond Chicago to include 19 cities. Some of the cities Included are Boston, Charlotte, Miami, San Jose, Seattle, Washington DC, San Francisco, Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles.
