Rep. James Sensenbrenner – The Non-apology Apology of an ASS
Republican Representative James Sensenbrenner, Jr., (Jim) who represents the Fifth Congressional District of Wisconsin was recently overhead referring to First Lady Michelle Obama, wife of the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, as having a “large posterior”.
"She lectures us on eating right while she has a large posterior herself," Sensenbrenner, who is over-weight, reportedly said.
Sensenbrenner’s office issued a statement stating that he was referring to the First Lady's healthy food initiative. "He doesn't think the government should be telling Americans what to eat. While he may not agree with all of her initiatives, he plans to contact the First Lady's office to apologize for his comments," his office said.
When I heard about Sensenbrenner’s plan to apologize to Mrs. Obama for his rudeness, I immediately thought about an outstanding article written by Yvonne Kendall.

The non-apology apology (NAA, pronounced “naw” as in “no way will I ever apologize”) occurs when A Somebody Special (ASS) has done something that is undeniably, unmistakably wrong, wrong, wrong. Next, somebody or other (or 200 media outlets or so) call them on it. Then, and this is the good part (or not, depending on who you are), the ASS issues a statement that pretends to be an apology. It might even have the words “I apologize” in it. But no, it’s not an apology. It’s an ASS in jackal’s clothing.
