I am no Anthony Bourdain, the world’s famous food traveler, author, and Chef; but I have had the great fortune to having traveled and experienced some of the best culinary talents and palatable dishes from great cooks around the world. I have had some great and unique food experiences from places such as Ma Dabah’s Cold Bowl shop in Ganta, Nimba County, Liberia to Cafe Trombetta located on Via Marsala in Roma to name a few.

Meeting Chef Gina Worthy in Chicago did validate the fact that she is the Chef of choice for unique, exceptional food and visionary edible entertainment. Chef Gina’s customized menus and diverse global cuisines are further enhanced by her sense of style and creative flair. Her up-market services are perfectly suited for those with refined palates. The Chef is not only a member of The National Restaurant Association and The American Culinary Federation but she is also an avid supporter of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, which provides food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community.

I recently caught up with Chef Gina and asked her to share her Thanksgiving recipes with this site.  Included with the usual, Chef Gina will be serving Turducken.

According to the Chef, a turducken is a dish consisting of a de-boned whole chicken stuffed into a de-boned whole duck, which itself is stuffed into a de-boned whole turkey. She also added, “The word turducken is a portmanteau of turkey, duck, and chicken or hen.”

The thoracic cavity of the chicken/game hen and the rest of the gaps are stuffed, sometimes with a highly seasoned breadcrumb mixture or sausage meat, although some versions have a different stuffing for each bird. The result is a fairly solid layered poultry dish, suitable for cooking by braising, roasting, grilling, or barbecuing.

Chef Gina concluded by saying, “If that sounds like a lot of work, you're right. It takes several hours to prepare the birds and many more hours to roast them. Making a turducken isn't a task to be undertaken lightly.”
