On November 19th, the African Political Action Committee (APAC) will host its Millennium Installation Ceremony and Inaugural Reception. This event will be held at the Akainyah Gallery, 357 W. Erie Street, Chicago, Illinois from 6pm until 12:00am.
Dorothy A. Brown, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois will be the keynote speaker and Appellate Court Judge Murray will be the installing officer. Illinois' Governor Pat Quinn will be in attendance.
APAC's major objective is to advance the political education and empowerment of people of African ancestry in the United States and the world over. The theme of this year’s political emancipation gala is "YES LET'S GET INVOLVED". It is organized by various groups of African ancestry and friends designed to enhance face to face meetings and discussions between various political leaders, the business community and the citizenry as a joint venture in our efforts as we continue to develop and build coalitions and alliances to promote our common political, social wellbeing and economic interests.
According to Dr. Ewa Ewa, APAC’s Chairman, “I continue to believe that, to effectively address the social and economic difficulties we face continually in and outside our respective motherlands, and for others to recognize the abilities we are capable of harnessing in a productive democratic society, Africans of all works of life must cultivate a spirit of oneness, cooperation, and brotherhood. Such a collective effort and awareness will accelerate our efforts in nurturing an identity capable of negating the conceptions and attributes held about us as we struggle to bring ourselves to acceptability.”
Dr. Ewa also added, “We have the ability and clear choice to shape the course of our destiny in this decade as a group or face the inevitability of self-destruction. This is our chance and I call on all fair minded people and friends to join this movement. Your input would be significant in making a difference towards our goal.”
As APAC strives to continue to develop and build political coalitions and alliances to promote common interest and well-being, your presence at this significant event will be highly appreciated. Come and enjoy the food and silence auction. Regular contribution is $50.00. Sponsorship contributions are: $1,000, $500, $250 and $100.
If interested in "Will Call," please email them with your name and contribution type and they will have a list with your name and ticket available at the door for pick up.
