Javaris Crittenton, former NBA Star arrested by FBI on murder charges
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is reporting that former NBA basketball star and former Georgia Tech basketball star Javaris Crittenton was arrested at a Southern California airport Monday night after checking in for a Delta Airline flight to Atlanta.
Crittenton was wanted by the FBI for allegedly shooting and killing a 22-year-old woman, Jullian Jones, on August 19. Jones was a mother of four children.
Police believe Jones was not Crittenton’s intended target but rather someone else she was walking with who may have robbed him in April.
Crittenton was the 19th picked during the 2007 NBA draft. He was picked in the first round by the LA Lakers and was traded to Memphis as a rookie.
Due to behavior relates issues, he was kicked out of four NBA teams. While with the Wizards the 6-foot-5 shooting guard had violated NBA rule by taking a gun into the locker room. He was also involved in a locker room showdown with teammate Gilbert Arenas in which the two pulled guns on each other. Crittenton pleaded guilty and was given a year of probation on a misdemeanor gun possession charge in January 2010.
