Under United States Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Blagojevich is expected to spend at least 10 years in prison.
Blagojevich was accused of trying to personally benefit by trying to sell the replacement United States senate seat vacated by former Illinois Senator Barack Obama.
During his first trial deliberated on August 2010, Blagojevich was convicted of making false statements to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He was found guilty of only one of the 24 counts against him. At that time, the jury announced it was deadlocked on the other 23 counts. The 24 charges included fraud, racketeering and attempted extortion. Blagojevich's trial stemmed out of allegations he tried to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama to the highest bidder.
