According to Oklahoma state Republican Representative Sally Kern: blacks are in prison because color didn’t study hard.
Sally, 65-year-old, is no stranger to making racist and homophobic remarks; but her latest comment about Blacks or African-Americans warrant ChocolateCity putting Sally Kern on blast.
On April 27, 2011, while debating in favor of SJR 15, a proposed constitutional amendment that would eliminate Affirmative Action in Oklahoma, Sally said,
We have a high percentage of blacks in prison, and that’s tragic, but are they in prison just because they are black or because they don’t want to study as hard in school? I’ve taught school, and I saw a lot of people of color who didn’t study hard because they said the government would take care of them.
Sally must not be familiar with racial disparity in the U.S. criminal justice system, the privilege class, or the "The Fair Sentencing Act.” As a matter of fact, Sally is suggesting that so-called white-collar criminals such as Edwin Edwards, Jack Abramoff, Andrew Fastow, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, Richard Scrushy, Joseph Nacchio, John and Timothy Rigas, Jeffrey Skilling, Bernard Ebbers, and Bernie Madoff, the $50 Billion Ponzi Schemer are all in prison because they did not study hard.
Today, Sally posted the following pathetic and sorry a%% comments on her website:
I want to humbly apologize for any statements last night about women and African Americans. My words were, obviously, not spoken correctly and for that I humbly apologize. Unfortunately, when we take “words or sentences” out of the total context of a speech debated on the floor, there can be false misrepresentations, but the most important part is to always go to the heart of the matter.
We live in a sound bite society and our media likes to take only a portion of a dialog and use just a slice of it. You can take a portion of something someone says and make it say anything you want it to say. Without a doubt, what I said was poorly stated and did not convey the meaning I wanted to get across for this I am truly sorry and humbly apologize.
It is apparent that Sally's racist comments are reflective of her inherited characteristics. You might also want to checkout 22 INSANE things Representative Sally Kern has said.
