The title of my article is so vague and nebulous that I feel the need to explain who Sarah and Michelle are.
Michelle Robinson Obama, 46 year-old, is the wife of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, and the first African-American First Lady of the United States. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, she attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School and worked at Sidley Austin law firm, where she met Barack. Michelle also worked as part of the staff of Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley, and for the University of Chicago Medical Center. The First Lady, has become a fashion icon and role model for women, and a notable advocate for poverty awareness and healthy eating.
Sarah Louise Palin, 46 year-old, is the former Governor of Alaska who resigned her post in 2009. She was chosen by the GOP presidential candidate John McCain to be his running mate in the last presidential election. Palin enrolled at the University of Hawaii in Hilo. Shortly after arriving in Hawaii, she switched to Hawaii Pacific University for a semester in the fall of 1982 and then North Idaho College in the spring and fall of 1983. She attended the University of Idaho in the fall of 1984 and spring of 1985, and attended Matanuska-Susitna College in the fall of 1985. Palin returned to the University of Idaho in the spring of 1986, receiving her bachelor's degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism in 1987.
On her TLC reality show on Sunday, while in an apparent ostensibly spontaneous moment, preparing for a family cook-out, Palin is seen searching her kitchen's bottom cabinet for the different products that make-up “s’more,” and said, “Where are the s'mores ingredients? This is in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert."
Sarah's comments Sunday were in reference to a speech Michelle delivered in July, during which she described her own upbringing when it came to food and exercise. During that speech, Michelle said: "In the afternoon, there was no way we'd be allowed to lie around the house watching TV," she told the NAACP in a Kansas City speech. "Our parents made us get up and play outside." "As I tell my kids, dessert is not a right," Michelle added.
This is not the first time Sarah has dissed Michelle over her campaign to discourage fattening foods, especially from public schools. Last month, Sarah told conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham that "the first lady cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat."
Sarah recently hand-delivered cookies to a Pennsylvania school before delivering a speech there, saying: "Who should be deciding what I eat? Should it be government or should it be parents? It should be the parents."
