
After two weeks of deliberations, Chicago jurors today convicted Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich of only one of the 24 counts against him.
Judge James B. Zagel of Federal District Court accepted the jury’s verdict on the false-statements count on Tuesday and declared a mistrial on the remaining counts, the bulk of the case. Prosecutors immediately announced that they intend to retry the case "as quickly as possible." Blagojevich could possible face five years in prison on the single guilty charge.
