Tonight Scottie Pippen will be formally inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Pippen will be presented by Michael Jordan, his teammate of nine seasons with the Bulls.

During an earlier news conference at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Pippen was introduced along with the other members of the Class of 2010: Cynthia Cooper, a Chicago native and first WNBA player and hall of famer; Dr. Jerry Buss, Karl Malone; the 1960 US Men’s Olympic team; and the 1992 US Men’s Olympic team, known as the “Dream Team.” Other inductees of the Class of 2010 included Dennis Johnson, Gus Johnson and Maciel Ubiratan Pereira, all of whom will be honored posthumously.

When asked about his favorite NBA moment of his career, Pippen said, “Listening to these guys elaborate on the Olympics, it truly was an enjoyable moment in my life,” Pippen said. “I will never forget having the opportunity to play for two gold medals. I think nothing really sticks out more than winning an NBA championship in ’91 for me.” “When you’re with your teammates for so long, for many years, and you have that one common goal and you finally achieve it, it’s definitely much more special to me than winning a gold medal,” Pippen said.

A native of Hamburg, Arkansas; Pippen attended college at the University of Central Arkansas (1983-87). Pippen is a seven-time NBA All-Star (1990, 1992-97) and a member of six NBA championship teams with the Chicago Bulls (1991-93, 1996-98). He was a three-time All-NBA first team honoree and was voted to the NBA All-Defensive first team from 1992-99, along with two stints on the All-Defensive second team. Pippen won two Olympic gold medals as he was a member of the 1992 USA Basketball “Dream Team” and returned to help lead the USA to gold at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He won NBA All-Star MVP honors in 1994. Pippen also played with the Houston Rockets (1998-99) and Portland Trail Blazers (1999-2003).
