Today, Tuesday, Aug. 10, the much anticipated soccer game between the United States and Brazil has already sold more than 65,000 tickets.
I had no intention of mentioning the words “World Cup,” however, the U.S team had been out of action since they were put out in the knockout stage in a loss to Ghana.
For tonight's game, head coach Bob Bradley has named 18 players to the roster that will face the five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil. Fifteen players on the roster were part of the squad that led the U.S. to a first place finish in group play at the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 80 years, including Jozy Altidore, who replaced Jermaine Jones on the U.S. roster. Defender Omar Gonzalez will also join the team, replacing Chad Marshall.
The U.S. MNT Roster by Position:
GOALKEEPERS (2): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton)
DEFENDERS (6): Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Étienne), Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover), Omar Gonzalez (Los Angeles Galaxy), Clarence Goodson (IK Start), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United)
