Denying Citizenship to Children Legally Born to Illegal Aliens

Here We Go Again! If Arizona Republican Senator John Kyl and his fellow Republicans had their way, they would kick-out all Latinos including the legal ones out of Arizona.

Yesterday, while appearing on CBS' "Face the Nation" the Senator said that Congress should hold hearings to look into denying citizenship to children legally born in the United States to illegal aliens. In Arizona, “Anchor babies,” is the term they used to describe children legally born in the United States to illegal aliens.

In essence, Kyl and his Republicans members are recommending that we change the constitution to revoke citizenship from legal citizens because their parents came here illegally. The 14th Amendment of the U.S Constitution was enacted in 1868 to ensure that states would not deny citizenship. It reads, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

ARIZONA! This is the same state that tried to pass the “Birther Bill,” which would have required President Barack Obama to provide a birth certificate when he runs for president in Arizona in 2012. Obviously the bill did not passed and Arizona's Republican-dominated party found themselves at the receiving end of ridicule from numerous political commentators. This is also the same state that signed into law HB2281, which bans African-American and Chicana/o studies in Arizona's public schools.

The question is, what next should we expect from Arizona?
