As Wesley Trent Snipes prepares to celebrate his 48th birthday on July 31, a panel of judges from the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh says he must serve 3 years prison term.
Despite innumerable character references from some of his actor friends including Denzel Washington, he was given a 3 year jail time.
The judge panel denied Snipes' claim that his three-year prison sentence for tax evasion was "unreasonable" and that he should have been granted a hearing to decide whether his trial should have been held in New York instead of Florida.
His tax advisers, Douglas P. Rosile and Eddie Ray Kahn also received jail terms. According to the judges opinion obtained from Case#: 08-12402, “Eddie Ray Kahn’s organization, American Rights Litigators (“ARL”), that purported to assist customers in resisting the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”). ARL employees, including co-defendant Douglas Rosile, and ARL members sent voluminous letters to the IRS, challenging the agency’s authority to collect taxes.”
Some recent film credits to Snipes includes, Brooklyn's Finest, Blade: Trinity, Bernie Mac Show (TV), Beyond with James Van Praagh (TV), and Undisputed.
The gifted actor also has a high ranking 5th Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate and has been training in martial arts since the age of 12.
