Another violent and deadly weekend continues in Chicago. Among those shot during this weekend included a 1 year-old girl who suffered a graze wound to the neck.
During the weekend of April 23, 2010, eight people including a toddler were killed and 18 wounded in Chicago. After the April killings, two local lawmakers asked Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn to send out the National Guard to reduce street violence. The Chicago Democratic Reps. John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford are expected to reissued their previous request to the governor.
Since 1982, Chicago has outlawed hand guns in the city, even for law-abiding residents who sought to keep one at home. In March 2010, the Supreme Court agreed to hear oral arguments over the City of Chicago, Illinois handgun ban.
