In the wake of the recent killing of 30 year-old Chicago Police office Thomas Wortham on 84th and King Drive, it seems as if no one is immune from the senseless Black-on-Black carnage that is pushing Chicago at an accelerated pace to reclaiming the infamous title of murder capital of the world. And yes, the crimes committed by Blacks or African Americans are disproportionately high compared to the percentage of the city's population. I wish I could sugar coat this one, but it is about time that “we as a people,” the so-called civil rights leaders and pastors stop blaming others for the problems.
As recent as May 13, about 20,000 people attend a formal ceremony in Washington, D.C. at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in honor of 318 fallen police officers from across the U.S. Among those in attendance was Police office Thomas Wortham of the Chicago Police Department.
From every indication, it seems as if it was safer for Wortham while serving his two tour of duty in

Wortham, a three year police officer, was shot and killed last night around 11:00 p.m. The shooting took place in the Chicago Chatham neighborhood, across the street from Nat King Cole Park. Wortham was heading home after having dinner with his parents. According to Chicago Police Department, he was approached by four Black or African American males who tried to steal his new motorcycle outside his family's home. Police say the officer's father who is a retired Chicago Police officer came to his son's rescue and shot two of the attackers, killing one and fatally wounding another. Police are looking for a third suspect who fled the scene. Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer says charges are pending against the injured suspect.
