NBA MVP and Cleveland Cavaliers’ LaBron James
Prior to the Boston-Cavaliers Game 6 on last Thursday, the Cavaliers were favored to win the NBA championship, or should I say at least play in the finals. The LaBron James and Kobe Bryant match was much anticipated. It also was anticipated that TV rating from the games would get sky-high Nielson ratings.
Unfortunately for the Cavaliers and their fans things did not worked out as anticipated. They were schooled and spanked by a veteran team – Boston Celtics.
Besides the issue of James’ contract, there are some outstanding issues that need to be taken care of by the Cavaliers’ front office. Will Brown and/ or Ferry be fired? If so, who will replace them if they are fired?
After the game Daniel Gilbert, Cavaliers’ owner said he is expected to evaluate the team – a process to last 7-10 days. Gilbert publicly scolded the team, coaching staff, and anyone else with a direct role in the disgraceful 32-point fifth-game loss.
Without a doubt, the team has come a long way since rookie James’ 2003-04 season. According to Forbes magazine, the Cleveland franchise has almost doubled in value since James joined the team.
The James' contract issue is expected to be a major topic of discussion with sports fan during the upcoming summer. Just last week, the senior adviser to President Obama, David Axelrod said, "He doesn't want to tamper, but as a Chicago fan, the president thinks LeBron would look great in a Bulls uniform."
Should The Cavaliers Pay Whatever LaBron James Wants and make another championship attempt for next season? After all, Gilbert was quoted as saying, "We fully believe this is the best franchise for him to play at," Gilbert said. "We'll do every thing in our power to attack great talent and keep talent."
