The talented Marion Jones gets a second change at another professional sport
Jones, the disgraced former sprinter once called the world's fastest woman joined the the WNBA's Tulsa Shock yesterday.
Speaking at the news conference on Wednesday, Jones said, "The word redemption is not in my vocabulary," Jones said at a news conference, flanked by team president Steve Swetoha and coach Nolan Richardson. "I'm a competitor, I want to play against the best in the world, and I know that I will be doing that." Jones also said playing for the Shock is not about her past but instead fulfills her dream of playing basketball against the best players in the world.
Jones spent six months in a Texas prison for check-fraud scam and lying to federal prosecutors about doping. She was a starting point guard on North Carolina's 1994 NCAA national championship team and was drafted in 2003 by Phoenix but never played in the WNBA.
Chocolate City wishes Jones good luck and God's blessing with her new endeavor.
