Otis McDonald,76 year-old Chicago’s Morgan Park residence
The case was filed by Otis McDonald, 76 year-old Chicago's Morgan Park residence along with others against the city of Chicago, Illinois. McDonald's case is sponsored by the Second Amendment Foundation and the Illinois State Rifle Association.
Lawyers for McDonald and others are arguing that their clients have the right to keep and bear arms as set out in the 2nd Amendment which is "incorporated" into the 14th Amendment and thereby applies to states and localities.
McDonald says he keeps a 20-gauge shotgun at home to protect himself from gangs that plague his Morgan Park neighborhood. He said, "The people that want to control me, my family, my property, these are the people that I want to protect myself from."
Since 1982, Chicago has outlawed hand guns in the city, even for law-abiding residents who sought to keep one at home. We have added a link to the Chicago Municipal Ordinance Relating To Firearms.

The disproportionately concentrated of guns in disadvantage homes in Chicago combined with the over representation of African-American and Hispanic young males with illegal firearms in homicide related cases is not unique to Chicago, nor are these patterns new. Yet over the past years, it appears that the Chicago and Cook County governments have made a “F grade” effort in protecting law-abiding citizens from those lawless low IQ gun tooting criminals. Issuing a gun ban law while victimizing the law abiding citizens does not make any sense. It is about time that the Supreme Court rule in favor of defenseless Chicagoans that can't protect ourselves – unlike Richard Daley with a dozen or so security guards around his house.
