South African’s President Jacob Zuma with his three first ladies
While watching the BBC News last night, I saw a clipping with President Zuma dancing at his wedding ceremony in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal province. He had just married his third wife, Thobeka Mabhija, a 36 year-old. The news did not say how much Zuma had paid to purchased Ms. Mabhja from the Mabhija family two years ago. Oops, I will be politically correct and restate the previous sentence – “ The news did not say how much Zuma had paid in ilobolo (dowry) to the Mabhija family two years ago.”
Zuma married his second wife two years ago and is also divorced from his country's Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. President Zuma is a polygamous and like a chameleon, he is disguised himself as a traditionalist. Polygamous marriages are common among the Zulus in the rural area. Zuma has been South Africa's President since May of 2009.
You can use whatever euphemism you want, but there is a universally acceptable terminology that applies when money or goods are exchanged on behalf of an individual without their consent and with the purpose of handing them over to another person to be used as that person chooses.
It kills me when men used tradition as an excuse to feed their perverted and male chauvinistic illnesses. Sadly, there are still many many families in countries around the world today that would sadly transfer their 12 year-old girl to a perverted grown man under the disguise of tradition.
I am in the United States today, but my umbilical cord or navel string was buried in a city in West Africa; which also subscribed to innumerable, unfounded and senseless traditions that were crafted to favor the perverted, selfish and barbaric urges of the male gender. Hence, out of those perverted and selfish urges originated the dumb and stupid tradition of female circumcision or bare-breasted and semi-nude young girls parading the streets claiming to be graduates of the Sande society.
Just in case you are wondering what West African city I was born – it is located at 06°18' North latitude and 10°47'W (your homework for the day). I just tapped into knowledge that was acquired while I was in the 4th grade and I am surprised that I still remember it – there must be a tiny ounce of good to memorization.
