Beautiful actress N.K Gutierrez plays the role of Joanne Jefferson in RENT
N.K Gutierrez who plays the role of Joanne Jefferson in RENT made it happen for herself after she responded, auditioned and landed the role. The role for Joanne Jefferson was published in an ad in the PerformInk Audition notice. Performink is a Chicago theatre industry newspaper that includes show openings and reviews, audition listings, and industry and union news for Chicago actors, directors, dancers, designers, and other theatre professionals. Without a doubt, N.K is in good company of other outstanding RENT members. HALO's Productions features the kind of powerful cast that they have become known for.
N.K did not get the role of Joanne Jefferson in RENT just out of college. She previously played numerous roles including a prominent role in Village Players' production of "Suddenly Last Summer," Tennessee William's classic gem. She played the role of a nun, Sister Felicity.
In a world where it is commonly perceived that beauty and brains rarely co-exist, N.K breaks that mold. She holds dual bachelor's degree in Fashion: Textiles and Clothing in Business and Psychology from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri. She is a self-described "Blaxican" – A person who is racially mixed with African-American and Mexican. She grew up in Topeka, Kansas under the care of her loving Mexican mother in humble surroundings. She moved to the Chicago area four years ago to pursue her dreams. N.K's engaging personality and professional demeanor combined with her infectious and magnetic personality make for a very powerful and effective actor that is second to none. At times during our conversation, I could feel her energy and ability to move people to higher ground both personally and professionally. In my opinion, she clearly demonstrated a unique ability to inspire people.
Though acting is her first love, she also enjoys writing and performing spoken word. When faced with the question of where she sees herself in the next ten years she confidently replied, "Effecting change through important film roles that truly inspire and move others." She also noted that she has always wanted her own talk show. If she had the opportunity to work with any actor it would undoubtedly be Hillary Swank because her ability to melt into a character is unparalleled, and I would love to witness her process.
The Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, RENT, by Jonathan Larson, begins it’s run at the Paramount Theatre for its Premiere weekend!
