Over a year ago, ChocolateCity.cc created a category on their blog called – Justice/Honor Killing which was dedicated to the dishonorable killing of young Arab females by their senseless and selfish fathers, brothers or relatives who feel they have some sort of ownership over them.
Today, I just say a CNN headline that read, “Iraqi woman, 20, dies; police in Arizona say father ran her over.” The 20 year-old woman, Noor Faleh Almaleki, had moved with her family to the U.S. from Iraq in the mid-1990s. The article went on to say that Noor died in an Arizona hospital, nearly two weeks after her father ran her over with a car because she had become "too Westernized" and had abandoned "traditional" Iraqi values. A friend of Noor, Amal Edan Khalaf, 43 year-old, also suffered serious injuries in the attack.
Faleh Hassan Almaleki, Noor's father did not state exactly what aspect of westernization he despises, hates or prompted him to kill his own child. However, too often, in the selfish male-dominated and so-called traditional Arab values, men see women as a piece of meat, object, veiled and under virtual house arrest and eventually triggering a barbaric and so-called “honor killing,” when their daughters or wives gravitate towards the freedom to choose.
What actually is the abandoning of traditional Iraqi values? Is it the act of a young woman going through the hell of never feeling love, the hell of never choosing her own mate, is it being forced to submit to a stranger, is it the hell of spending her life with a man to whom she would have to ask permission before being allowed to exercise her everyday freedom, is it the taking of her body without permission, is it having to wear a dark and heavy veil in a 90 degrees temperature while her chosen husband walk around with a sleeveless t-shirt?
Through His Divine Love, Allah's Light first brought the world of space, time, matter and subsequently beautiful children into existence and into our lives and yes, freedom for them to choose. Force-feeding our children with a long metal pipe down their throats with any kind of religion or tradition is a form of slavery and bondage – no higher or divine power would want force worshipers, at least not the Most Gracious, Most Merciful that I know.
As I blog this article, I can not help but quote few lines from a great book that I just read. In her memoir “Infidel,” Hirsi Ali noted “I am not a Muslim because I lost respect for the book and its author and his messenger. I lost respect for them because of their bloodthirsty demands to kill and hate. I now feel the common humanity with those I once shunned: the Jews, Christians, atheists, gays, sinners of all stripes and colours. I lost respect not for Muslims but for what they fear. I am accused of hating Muslims and vilifying their Holy Book and their prophet. I do not hate Muslims. But yes, I detest the submission of free will.”

the man who put her through this HAS to get the death penalty, so there can be an example set for the fools who think killing has a level of HONOR!!!

this is horrible. who would actually kill their child for who they are and becoming. no matter what that will always be your child and you should make them your first priority and never intend to hurt them in any type of way
Why are you blaming the fathers? If the daughters weren't out being whores none of this would have happened.

I was appalled to hear that "Honor Killing" is happening in the United States. First, honor means to have high respect for something so, how can you take someone's life in the name honor? There is nothing in the Holy Koran that justify taking someone's life without doing this in self defense. I understand that Islamic values and beliefs are different from Americans. Muslims from the Middle East are considered to be extremists and believe that a women have no place in Society and are treated as property. Women have fought for so many years to be treated equally to man in America and are valued. This father who felt that he was right in killing his daughter because she was becoming to westernized is Ridiculous! When you decide to live in a country where life is different from where came from then you must learn to adopt to that country, like the saying "when in Rome, do as the Romans do." As parents, you lay down the foundation of morals and values in a child. You allow that child to grow and flourish knowing that you have given that child everything he or she needs to survive in this world. It is your faith in God or Allah that will protect and lead your child as God sees fit. God is the one that judges and punishes Not Man!
