Grammy Award-winning artist Dwayne Carter, also known as Lil Wayne is expected to serve a year in prison for gun possession.
Documents obtained from the Manhattan District Attorney's office indicated the hip-hop artist pleaded guilty on Thursday to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. Mr. Carter’s guilty plea was to a reduced charge.
According to police record, Carter was arrested in July 2007 with a friend while smoking marijuana on the street. A .40-caliber pistol was found in his possession during the arrest.
