Two years ago, he was arrested and handcuffed after attempting to purchase thousands of dollars worth of unregistered guns and silencers.
As a convicted felon due to a 1998 felony drug conviction, the rapper knew that he was not allowed to own a gun. T.I. pleaded guilty to the gun charges in March of last year but was not immediately sentenced.
At the hearing, T.I. apologized again for his mistakes and said he would learn from his time in lockup.
"Today I would like to say thank you to some, and apologize to all," he said. He further added "Everything I learned was through trial and error." "I've learned lessons in my life to put in my music so people won't make the same mistakes as I."
The sentence is part of a negotiated plea deal worked out by T.I.'s lawyers that allowed the rapper to avoid jail for a year and do community service to sidestep the potential 10-year prison term he could have faced.
He completed his hours or community service by traveling the country and mentoring to American youth in nearly 60 schools nationwide as part of his MTV reality series "T.I.: Road to Redemption."
The prison-bound T.I. also spent the year at the top of the charts, releasing top 40 singles like "Whatever You Like" and "Dead and Gone" that made millions for the rapper.
Paper Trail, his sixth CD, sold more than 2 million copies worldwide.
T.I. will be credited for the 305 days that he already served while under house arrest. In essence, he is expected to spend only 60 more days behind bars. He is expected to report to prison by May.

Yes i think the rapper T.I was dumb for what he did for the simple fact that he has such an big influence on so many people lives. Especially young people of color. So many people look up to him, and the try to live life the way he does. His music is very popular, and so is he. But at the same time he made a mistake for what he did, and no one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes. So they got to understand that he is an Human being he’s going to have ups-and downs just like a average normal person. Also on his new album he expresses his sympathy for his actions, his words in his music states that he has learned from his mistakes and he’s trying to change his old ways. The punishment he received could have been a lot worst, so he did get a pretty good judgment, and got sympathy for his case. But I think he honestly learned from his mistakes and he’s going to change his old bad ways, and habits. I still love his music, and i sill like him as a person.
TI- you big dummy! WTF!? What was on his brain?? And my main question is- who are his boys/ handlers that they cant speak up to him and say “yea, cool, buy some guns, AKs and stuff, right, right… you ARE talking about a video tho right???

T.I. the rapper should be totally ashamed of his stupid move, on having been caught buying guns and silencers. He knew that what he was doing was illegal, before he even got to the meeting to retrieve the guns…. He has been in trouble with the law several times prior to this offense. so why does he get a brake when he’s overtly a criminal. This brother is a criminal no excuses… He doesn’t deserve a pass again.His celebrity can be his get out of jail free card. Some black males who have one time criminal offenses are carted off to jail no questions. T.I. isn’t that important he has doesn’t deserve the luxury when he knew better. But the justices system only serves the RICH and murders the poor.
I think T.I was headed for self destruction like Pac, but he was lucky God intervened. Sometimes people let others envy and hatred affect them a little to much and they are the ones that get caught up in the wrath. He was so worried about showing people that he was still hood til it almost cost himself a life sentence behind bars. I’m glad he got caught cause he could have ended up dead.
