On Thursday, the King of pop Michael Jackson announced his “last ever” show. Speaking at the British capital’s O2 arena yesterday to confirm a ten-night residency at the venue in July, he said he will perform a series of concerts in London this summer. He referred to the upcoming concerts as his “final curtain call.” Michael Jackson, 50-year-old said he would perform 10 shows at the O2 Arena, beginning July 8.

Dressed in a black military style jacket and sunglasses, he said: “I just want to say that these will be my final show performances in London. I love you so much. When I say this is it, it really means this is it. I’ll be performing the songs my fans want to hear. This is the final curtain call.”

Tickets for the July 8 shows go on sale on March 13.

Five of Mr. Jackson solo albums have become some of the world’s best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995).

Mr. Jackson is one of few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for “Most Successful Entertainer of All Time”—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career—more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era—and the sale of over 750 million units worldwide.

Jackson’s highly publicized personal life, coupled with his successful career, has made him a part of popular culture for almost four decades. He has been cited as one of the world’s most famous men.

Sound off: If you were to meet Mr. Jackson, what question(s) would you ask him?
