Roland Burris a proven and honorable public servant

Roland Burris has proven himself to be an honest and honorable public servant. He meets the Constitutional Requirements for the Senate and to deprive him the opportunity to serve is to deny the people of Illinois a complete voice in the Federal Government. While the Governor stands accused he is still innocent until proven guilty in a a Court of Law under the system of American Jurisprudence therefore any appointments he make are valid since he is a sitting governor. I think Mr. Burris would do an excellent job of serving the people of Illinois and should not have his willingness to serve tainted by the media and other gainsayers.

    Frank,

I do share your views on the issue of Mr. Burris.

An attempt by a hypocrite, Senate Majority Leader Reid to block a proven, tested and qualify African American candidate is just another attempt to maintain the old white-boys Senate network.

It was just reported today again that Reid is constantly calling New York Gov. David Paterson to appoint Caroline Kennedy to the Senate seat being vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton over the more qualify candidates.

As a after of fact Senate majority whip, Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., is working to set up a meeting between Majority Leader Reid and Mr. Burris for Wednesday.

Denise, thank you for weighing in on this issue. There were those forces that would rather have not had a Black person step into the second Illinois Senate seat. Unfortunately, even though the U.S. managed to elect a Black President the idea of being governed by Blacks is too much for some folks to handle and they go far to try and disrupt the inevitable. In due time we will see that the choice in President Barack Obama to lead the Administration and the seating of Roland Burris in the Senate were both excellent choices.
