A dead Gaza child
Elie Wiesel was right, the world was silent during the Holocaust tragedy and today they are silent again.
The Holocaust was a tragedy for the Jewish people and the millions of others who were persecuted together with them – many of whom only because they helped Jews.
Had I been around those days, I swear, I would not have been silent to the sufferings and humiliations of such unthinkable barbaric action. I would not have silently sat in my nice, warm and cozy house without doing something about it. Hitler’s actions were WRONG and there is absolutely No If, Ands, or Buts about it.
As I watched my 10-year-old and 7-year-old daughters play with their Wii in their nice and beautiful pajamas, I can not selfishly assume that all is well because they are well fed and in the best of health.
As I watch my innocent daughters laugh out loud, I can not help but ponder the lack of concern and indifference of the international community to the genocide, human cruelty and brutality imposed upon the Palestinian people. I can not help but think about those 400 Palestinians that have been killed in Gaza since the Israeli raids began on Saturday, with 42 children, 13 women and two medical workers or the addition, 2,000 that have been wounded, 216 critically. What crimes have the 42 children committed.
I can not help but think about those four Israelis — three of whom were civilians that were killed and 56 wounded by Palestinian indiscriminate rocket fire.
Why should my innocent daughters be executed by the raining of blazing 100 tons “made in America” bombs on their heads? Should my children be executed because of crimes that I might have committed?
Have we conditioned ourselves by becoming immune to the killing and thinking the Palestinian are less then humans? Just like lynching, have we become insensitive and numb to the killings? What if the tables were turned; the Palestinians with the F14′s and 100 – 200 tons bombs dropping it on the Israelis? Will we continue to be silent and indifference?
At this point, I don’t care who is right or wrong. The deliberately killing of children, women and destroying houses, universities and mosques or the indiscriminately firing of rackets MUST STOP. There is always a better solution to a problem. Let’s find it!
