U.S. President Elect Barack Obama
Two hundred thirty two years after the above words were written in the Declaration of Independent, the United of American has finally elected an African American president.
Illinois Senator Barack Obama will be sworn in office on January as United States’ first African American president and the United States 44th president.
As I watched President elect Barack Obama give his acceptance speech tonight in Grant Park, Chicago, I could not help but reflect on Dr. King’s history making speech:
“Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand with a greater determination. And let us move on in these powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it ought to be. We have an opportunity to make America a better nation. And I want to thank God, once more, for allowing me to be here with you,”
“I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!”
Sound off your feeling’s about American’s 44th. and first African American president.

I am blessed to be alive to see history being made. 08 election night I watch the election with my 7yr old daughter very excited to see how much she wanted OBAMA to win. Living in texas a predominently republican state, the schools were very involved in telling these kids about the elections. Information were given on each of the candidates and kids did their mock election and Obama won. Change is here.
I am appalled of most of these mass emails that are being sent from our so called brothers. Did we listen to President elect Obama speech. people before you forward an email to your contacts, please ask yourself, is this the change we are looking for? OBAMA slogan”yes we can”needs to go into practice. yes we can move forward and work together as AMERICANS.
I dont understand history being made. The african descent didnt make history by being president. He is white..well half white. So i still look at it as a white man elected for president. When i see a 100% african american man elected for president. Then history will be made
