McCain Palin – A Match Made in Hell (Alaska)
One does not have to be a political analyst to see that Republican presidential candidate John McCain made a very poor judgement in choosing Alaska’s governor Sarah Palin as his vice presidential nominee. Senator McCain’s irresponsible choice of a vice presdientital candidate will be the main reason why his last and only serious chance of becoming the President of the United Stated of America will go down the drain.
McCain’s camp frustrations with Palin does not surprised me. If only McCain had vetted his vice presidential candidate, he would have found out immediately that she is not only a beauty without political brains but throughout her career, she has pursued vendettas, fired officials who crossed her and sometimes blurred the line between government and personal grievance.
Palin selection by Sen. McCain certainly cause the American people to question his judgment and indeed his so-called “country first” slogan. Surely even McCain, a seasoned politician, himself cannot seriously believe this woman is qualified to become president of this great country. The possibility that majority of the voting public could believe such a myth is incredibly alarming. On the other hand, such myth is possible when people vote party first instead of “country first.” To put the American people in the awkward position to consider voting for an inexperienced vice president, whose lack of knowledge to take over as president has become increasingly obvious. This is inexcusable and a disrespect to the American people.
Many including intellectuals, conservatives, Republicans, Democrats and newspapers editorials have echoed their criticism of McCain’s irresponsible selection of Sarah Palin as the Republican vice-presidential candidate.
According to Colin Powell "I don’t believe she’s ready to be president of the United States….That raised some questions as to the judgment that Sen. McCain made."
Fareed Zakaria, CNN host, world affairs expert, “I think it would be best for Republican presidential hopeful John McCain if Gov. Sarah Palin bowed out as his vice presidential running mate.” He further added “ Once she began answering questions about economics and foreign policy, it became clear that she has simply never thought about these subjects before and is dangerously ignorant and unprepared for the job of vice president, let alone president.”
The Chicago Tribune, “McCain failed in his most important executive decision. Give him credit for choosing a female running mate–but he passed up any number of supremely qualified Republican women who could have served. Having called Obama not ready to lead, McCain chose Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. His campaign has tried to stage-manage Palin’s exposure to the public. But it’s clear she is not prepared to step in at a moment’s notice and serve as president. McCain put his campaign before his country.”
The LA Times, “Indeed, the presidential campaign has rendered McCain nearly unrecognizable. His selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate was, as a short-term political tactic, brilliant. It was also irresponsible, as Palin is the most unqualified vice presidential nominee of a major party in living memory. The decision calls into question just what kind of thinking — if that’s the appropriate word — would drive the White House in a McCain presidency. Fortunately, the public has shown more discernment, and the early enthusiasm for Palin has given way to national ridicule of her candidacy and McCain’s judgment.“
The Washington Post, “The choice is made easy in part by Mr. McCain’s disappointing campaign, above all his irresponsible selection of a running mate who is not ready to be president. It is made easy in larger part, though, because of our admiration for Mr. Obama and the impressive qualities he has shown during this long race. Yes, we have reservations and concerns, almost inevitably, given Mr. Obama’s relatively brief experience in national politics. But we also have enormous hopes. Mr. Obama is a man of supple intelligence, with a nuanced grasp of complex issues and evident skill at conciliation and consensus-building. Mr. Obama has the potential to become a great president.”
McCain knows that Barak Obama chose Joe Biden, a seasoned senator with years of experience in domestic and international policies, a track record of getting things done, a well vetted and a recognized political figure. Instead, McCain decides to pick an individual who has been described ”… a little too inexperienced for the job since she’s only been governor of Alaska since 2006.“ After one brief meeting with his VP pick he announces her to the American people and the world.
After the vice presidential candidate debate, it was very noticable that the Democratic vice presidential candidate, Senator Joe Biden was on numerous channels the following day supporting his campaign and Sen. Barack Obama. Palin, his Republican counterpart was nowhere to be seen. It is now obvious what the American people knew all along, she was being kept out of sight and far from open microphones because she is "not good at process questions," according McCains advisors.
A person who’s only political experience includes being mayor of Wasilla, Alaska and Alaskan governor for little over a year. To put Gov. Palin’s “executive experience” into perspective, she is incapable of governing as major of Gary, Indiana or Detroit, Michigan. These cites deal with a more serious socio-economic and political issues not seen in a place such as Alaska.
It was hoped that McCain would have choosen a proven Republican Party conservative to lock in his base, someone with the economics knowledge to offset McCain’s self declared lack of economics, maybe an experienced person in a key swing state. McCain had a pool of intelligent, seasoned, well-qualified and vetted Republican men and women to select from and did not take advantage of it, what a shame. This And it all just amplifies the questionable and dangerous judgement of Sen. McCain readiness to becoming American’s next president.
