Is Jeremaih Wright Media Tour Bad For Obama?

Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright appeared at the National Press Club on Monday morning, speaking out in what he called a defense of the traditional black church, and charging that he will “come after” Senator Barack Obama if he is elected president, since Obama would represent a government whose policies harm the poor.

“How long do you let someone say something about your faith tradition before you speak up and say something?” he told a packed crowd of journalists and supporters, many of whom stood and cheered throughout his remarks and Q&A session.
In the clip below, Wright addresses questions about his patriotism, his thoughts on Louis Farrakhan, and his relationship with Obama.

Speaking on the Bill Moyers show a day earlier, the nation’s most controversial cleric says he is misunderstood and a victim of bad people like me. Basically, Rev. Wright says we have it all wrong.

“I think they wanted to communicate that I am unpatriotic, that I am un-American, that I am filled with hate speech, that I have a cult at Trinity United Church of Christ. And by the way, guess who goes to his church, hint, hint, hint. That’s what they wanted to communicate. I felt it was unfair, I felt it was unjust, I felt it was untrue. I felt for those who were doing that, they were doing it for some very devious reasons.”
